Live from TIFF 09

I’ve just arrived in Toronto. Got my delegates pass and goody bag with Catalog which was waiting at the hotel desk thanks to an amazing and super efficient team at Fortissimo. Dropped into to their office and saw the poster for Road, Movie and collected three copies of the brochure which they have printed. BEAUTIFUL.

Fred Berger my amazing co-producer arrives from LA soon. There’s a ton of work to be done and lots of movies to be seen.

Had a long phone conversation with Satish Kaushik who has seen the trailer and been reading about the film.

He said, “I’m excited like a child.”

Abhay rolls in shortly once he can get a ride from the airport. As of 2pm he was stranded at Pearson International.

Tonight: the Cohen Brother’s new film.

Dev, I am a huge fan of Abhay and I am really excited about this movie. From the teaser trailer, it looks so wonderful. I hope this movie is a success, you really do deserve it, and I also think that Abhay is going to become internationally acclaimed as an actor too. He has such a great sensibility.

    Best of luck with everything!

    To Dev Sir,

Looking through the trailer. it seems that you had made a dynamic “Cinema Paradiso”.It gives feel of vibrant India in opposite to the static Itlian town of Giuseppe Tornatore. Looking for its release in India asap otherwise torrents are always there :)

I’m very eager to watch your upcoming movie, having seen your previous ones. I strongly believe that you are one of the few directors from India who can bring movies from India to the international level. The mainstream Bollywood is such a disappointment with overused story(?) lines and abysmal production standards which can put all B grade Hollywood flicks to shame.
You should try to release Road in the Western Massachusetts area (Amherst and Northampton). There are a lot of independent film buffs, artists and college students over here who would welcome this production.

PS: I’m a big fan of the Coen Brothers but did not find A Serious Man very appealing. Their previous stuff – The Big Lebowski, Fargo and Blood Simple was much better.
