Hi Dev, the music is just stunning. At first I could not place Michael Brook, but then I remembered his collaboration with Nusrat, and it all made perfect sense. When will the film release in US?

    Dear Mr. Benegal,

I watched “Road – the movie” last evening. CONGRATULATIONS for creating such a beautiful poem.

1). Oil business from father is symbolic of education / inherent wisdom. Which we all resist in our young age (just like Vishnu) but ultimately this is one thing which saves our life at one point or other.
2). During the journey of life (truck journey), mysterious packages / bundles (just like cinema equipments) appears as per our destiny / karma. They always spring surprise but have some definite purpose, which is hidden initially.
3). In coming time water is going to be very precious. Water is money (like time is money !), Like people do not part with money easily, your heroin part with water with discretion.
4). Rows of women in search of water also symbolizes search for life. In a world full of adversities !
5). One more learning is do not discard people on their outer appearances (like mechanic), they may be of immense value in further course of journey of life.
6). Setting up a cinema bioscope – reminds a famous hindi song from movie “Anand” – “Jinhone sajaye yahan melae, sukh dukh sang ang jhelae” .
7). Cinema bioscope which denotes sansarik mayajal – should not allow to deviate us, not like Vishnu , who got attached to the girl.
8). This movie also has beautifully depicted that not to suffocate the person whom one loves. True love allows “let go”, in benefit of his / her love. It was beautiful, how they have said bye.
9). Reaching to sea also is wonderful symbolic destination. Sea symbolizes ultimate merger of life. Completion of journey.

    Congratulations once again.
May this movie win lots and lots of awards
    With best wishes.

You know, in many ways, Road,Movie was that one movie that I’d been waiting all my life to appear in the local movie circuit. But now that it has appeared, I’d hate to club it with the rest of the crap that is passed off as cinema in this country.

Anyway, I’ll just avoid ranting because I don’t think I’ll stop if i start. :D

This movie was simply brilliant. The chemistry between the characters, the cinematography, the music, the whole oil angle, it was beautiful. Hell, watching this movie made me stop work and plan a backpacker trip!

I loved this movie, and thanks a million, Dev Benegal. Wishing you the very best in all your future endeavours. Fan for life!

    Hi Dev,

Could you please release the soundtrack of the movie by Michael Brook on a CD? I have been dreaming of this collaboration and thanks a lot for making it happen. As you know Michael is an amazing artist and it would be a real tragedy if this soundtrack goes unreleased.

I do hope you will at least have a limited edition of this promising and alluring s/track

    Dear Dev,

Been wondering, what do you feel about the performance of the Road movie in India. It would be great to hear a few words from you on that.

Also, i could not manage to watch the movie, so can you please tell me when is it going to be available on DVD. Unlike other works which are yet not available on DVD, i would urge you to get it done on DVD. As its apparently a beautiful work to be treasured.

    regards,

    Naveen
